Love the tone.

I LOVE this photo. What an impact!

pqrshanth said 596 days ago:

For me it looks like more portrait than Phone!!

digitalpeace said 596 days ago:

I know I might not do good on the relevance ratings, but I still couldn't help posting this :)

lorissa said 596 days ago:

love the textures here and the "subdued" colours. the black glove and a phone, that to me looks like one that would usually have a cord, invite me to be even more interested in the character, the photo, and what's going on - very nicely done!

dseguin said 596 days ago:

Right on - the glove is interesting as well.

zorilla said 596 days ago:

i'd prefer this with less photoshop processing

digitalpeace said 596 days ago:

thanks for the comments.

Ashish said 596 days ago:

Very dramatic portrait. To be honest, i rather look at the face than the phone. As for me this shot is more apt for self portrait (if thats you!) than the current theme, just loving the details!!

Clarence said 596 days ago:

striking!

EmilyHorne said 596 days ago:

In reguard to members who think that a portrait with a phone in it does not fit the theme... I do not agree. This shot says Phone. The subject enforces the theme.

King said 596 days ago:

This is a counter cliche that conveys irony. It addresses the cliched use of the telephone as a prop in advertising photographs. The model displays no pretense of actually interacting with the virtual voice of some imaginary person on the line. The portrait (assumed to be a self-portrait) is beautifully lit, the gaze is direct and active. The glove enhances the separation of the model from the telephone.
IMHO, this is a well-considered, carefully composed and excellently executed photograph.

Really enjoying the quality of your images. The lighting, colors, textures, etc. are awesome!

King said 596 days ago:

zorilla...I must respectfully disagree that this image suffers an excess of "photoshop processing." We don't know what equipment and lighting was used or if any post-exposure processing took place. Any good advertising photographer could replicate *all* of the technical qualities of this photograph on transparency film, such that a straight, high-quality scan, would look much like what you see above. Of course, the photographer would have to hire Barris as the model.

Ana said 596 days ago:

This might be better with the face turned away...more mysterious!

jlc said 596 days ago:

I do not understand this image
the skin is too much under exposed
I does not understand the glove
an image between 007 and trainspotting
but there is here something to exploit ;)

Warning: "Preachy" comment follows. Feel free to ignore.

Does everyone participating in W.S. know that monitors differ in their sharpness, brightness, contrast and color?...and that an image displayed on a Mac will (all other things being equal) appear noticeably brighter than when displayed on a PC? This has been puzzling me because many of the comments (not just here) seem to indicate that there is a mutually agreed-upon monitor calibration that has been shared by everyone but me, or that everyone uses the same operating system and hardware.
It is difficult to make a comment relative to sharpness, brightness, contrast, color or saturation that is anything but subjective...not that there's anything wrong with that.

Note to self: Begin future comments with boilerplate: "IMHO, viewing this image on my 19" flat screen Trinitron, calibrated by the XYZ method, with total lumens falling on the screen <= 10, "

philippe said 596 days ago:

I like the tones and the texture.

digitalpeace said 596 days ago:

Heh, thank you very much for all the feedback.

King, I agree with you on the difference of monitors. What is even weirder is that even browsers differ in terms of brightness and colour they display.

jle: well, you do understand the image...

Budgie said 595 days ago:

I really like this shot, it's engaging. My only comments are that the leather glove looks a bit baggy/big however I agree it was probably needed to add drama/intrigue to the shot. Overall I like the unkempt, grainy feel to the shot. Well done.

kyla said 595 days ago:

It has a hitman-esque quality. There is an intenseness to this image that makes me return to it.

digitalpeace said 595 days ago:

Thank you.
I broke my comment record too :)

George said 595 days ago:

Pow. This has impact. 5s across on all except relevance. For me, this is "MAN (on phone)" or "MYSTERIOUS MAN (on phone)" or "HIT MAN (on phone)" rather than PHONE.

zulu said 595 days ago:

looks like a cover from a movie. i like it.

reality said 595 days ago:

i wish to one day have your skillz.

digitalpeace said 595 days ago:

George: I totally agree. My relevance ratings are low anyway ;)

zulu and reality: thank you very much (and reality, please don't talk nonsense)

digitalpeace said 594 days ago:

And thanks everybody for the ratings. I never thought this would make the front page.

VernonTrent said 594 days ago:

very creative!
