Nice find...!
is it in england ?

I would have like to see this in its complete form- instead of just the top.

Urban decay telephone?

Great variation on the theme!

mitchh said 591 days ago:

I like that it is a small part of the whole! A tad more space on the left would be nice though.

5's all the way. If this one doesn't make it to a featured spot I give up! This would have been good in Urban Decay too.

Jeff said 591 days ago:

Good use of complementary colors. An arresting image, well done IMHO.

Lovely colors. Would have loved to see more of the scene.

Very striking, the red and green contrast, the lines of the phone box and the curve of the leaves.

JIMJIM: Oxford, England

mitchh: Never thought of it that way, wish I had, my 'urban decay' submission bombed.

Ok, quite chuffed I must confess, 8 separate commentators vs 9 votes and my highest rating yet, relevance and impact both an average of 4.40 and straight in with an overall of 4.014.

Well, as I have found on many an occassion when out shooting images, I set my sights on a certain subject and find another seemingly more, inspiring, one attracts my eye.

This was found to the rear of a group of residential houses in Headington, Oxford. Quite why:

1. I went down the alley in the first place, I know not and 2. why they were there I haven't a clue. Might I just say, I didn't spend too much time there as it was a little creepy. This box was stood next to another and a bush/shrub/juvenile tree was growing through both but I focussed on just the one for more impact. I took a number of shots and this was the favoured one (less busy equalling more impact) so sorry to those who wanted to see the whole box. Also light was a negative influence as half of the box was in shade. I entitled it on my site 'Bush Telegraph'.

Can I have a little gripe? My other submission of a portrait featuring a guy holding a phone leaning over a (phone)book did badly. My gripe, I hate the fact that any 'theme' has to receive submissions that quite literally punch the viewer in the face with relevance to get anywhere near being featured.

Anyway, my goal is to generate some form of reaction when posting images. Your comments and thoughts are what I feel photography is all about. It should generate emotion.

We continue...

I like this shot a lot! Nice use of the contrasting colours. Superman would have to carry a machete to hack his way in if he wanted to use that phonebox.

Ana said 591 days ago:

Your gripe is one of many. But I have stopped taking it too personally and/or seriously. I mean, I posted two phones, and got 2's and 3's for relevance. What kind of sense does that make? I think people see something, don't like it, and give it a band of 2's instead of really taking each category seperately.

Jeff said 591 days ago:

On the relevance issue, I have one pending that is all "phone" - nothing else in the picture. If that is not high on "relevance" I don't know what is. Nevertheless, I take your view Ana...I don't take it personally at all and not too seriously either. I think sometimes the score is a general reference to what the viewer thinks about the image rather than the merits of each factor as defined. Hey, I'm free to post what I like. Viewers are free to vote as they prefer. Works for me.

Right on, Jeff.
