I don't think the sky is needed here at all. that said, the folks are just walking..not that compelling. Nice shot for what it is.

This seems to be more about the writing on the wall than the people, especially since the facial expressions and gestures aren't visible to me.

The social commentary is lost on me as well. Canvey Island is the UK's biggest oil refinery. It's a sad, depressed little seaside town at the very end of the Thames estuary. The sand on what passes for the beach is impregnatd with tar and the air never loses the acrid gasoline heavy aroma. Locals refer to it as the armpit of the Thames, but that's a euphemism.

The only connection I can think of to Lourdes is that it's a bloody miracle the whole sorry mess hasn't burst into flames.

I love walking along the coast there but don't go that often because it's the one place where even my dog gets depressed.

I'm off to snap a few bunnies.

This is more about the graffiti than the people. For me, the people - particularly since we can't see any faces - are just incidental.
