I like this but would like to see him punched up a bit (I mean contrast wise...he looks like a very nice man). Nice composition, cute expression but feels flat in terms of lighting.

I love the subject and the expression. I do wish there were a bit more light on the face and I might've cropped a bit out of the right portion. Overall though, nice capture. What is that on the ground?

Nice shot with one exception...the chiaroscuro isn't working. If I had shot this, I would have asked the man to step forward and to his left. But that's me. Some folks wouldn't feel comfortable doing that or even letting it be known that they were taking a photo. I use as my example not Henri Cartier-Bresson but W. Eugene Smith.

Tough way to make a living. I like the fact that he's standing alone against the brick wall, but I think the focus could have been a little sharper on his face.

How much did you throw in?? Very nice capture, I just would add a little more "punch" in the tonal range. Maybe try to pull a little more detail in his face.

Hey guys, thanks for the comments. For all those talking about the light and darkness, I have a feeling it may be your screens. Been having a few issues with people finding my photos a little too dark in some parts. I did lighten this one up before uploading it and it looks perfect on my screen and my fathers. However, I appreciate all your feedback : )
To be honest, I'm slightly disappointed that this wasn't featured. Excluding the problems with darkness some people are experiencing I personally feel this goes perfectly with the theme..
No?

Kinda...lol...joined a while ago but haven't really been that involved...why? : P

We are all surprised, from time to time, when a photo that we think is perfect for the theme is not featured. Sometimes it is a complete mystery why an image is or is not featured. It all depends on who is providing the ratings.
However, I suggest that you seriously consider the suggestions about tonal values, sharpness, cropping and--my favorite because it is mine--the chiaroscuro. All in all, I think it is a combination of those factors that may keep this from being featured, whether or not the image is perfect for the theme.

excellent composition. I wish his face weren't so dark...
