Thank you Zorilla.

Mennonites, right?? Went to college in Harrisonburg, VA, home of a large Mennonite community.

I like this very much, I only wish there was just a little more light/exposure on the boy's face.

Beautiful body and face expression, one feels that there is a whole story behind this shot.

That said, I don't really like the huge empty space on the left, a tighter crop (either with a square format or removing some of the bottom below the hand) would greatly improve the impact imho.

Right. I was at a yearling horse sale that past weekend in London, Ont. and a couple of Mennonite families showed up since they prefer Standardbred horses for field work and such. Anyway I was able to capture this a moment before the father turned around and gave me the most evil look.

One of the most challenging things about candid photography is that there are no second chances to fix exposure and such, the lighting in this building was awful and I believe I had the camera at 1600 ISO - so more light on the boys face was not an option.

Thanks for the comment.

The detail on the hat really pops. Unfortunately, the detail on the child's face does not and for this theme, I think it needs to.

Looks like a lovely, tender moment. The eye contact adds a nice touch.

this is a beautiful image, the look on the little boys face and the boldness of the hats and hands against the black, background and ribbon - wonderful!

@tracy, the reason he gave you that evil look is they don't want their pictures taken, something do do with their religion. I know when people go on the tours of the Amish areas in PA they are usually told that is is OK to photograph the buildings and furniture, etc, but not the people.

Thanks Beamer, I did know that which was one of the reasons I was being sneaky about it. He could have accused me of invading his right to privacy(I was using the 70mm to 200mm) but he was in a place where there were hundreds of people.
