Compositionally, I think you could have cut out about the bottom 25%.

I actually like the bottom half...it's the sky I might discard. Right now he's dead center/center.

I dunno. I kind of agree and then again I don't. It is a little too symetrical but then again were it not it wouldn't look right. I did consider a crop. What I would say is that the foreground blur draws you to the figure. Hmmm...

Very effective. Depicts the hunting life well and the sharpness on the person contrasts pleasantly with the gradations of focus in the background and foreground.

Very nice, I'm totally drawn into this and he has such determination.

This is a compelling image, although I like Ana's suggestion. Congratulations, Mooch.

Gratz on the feature Tobias :)

For me the most pleasing element is my slow understanding and subsequent use of layers.
Believe it or not, this image is comprised of two layers. Backdrop and figure. The backdrop was slightly more desturated than the figure. I was disappointed that it wasn't more noticeable. Once I thought about it I was glad at how subtle it is.
As for the "sharpness" of the figure with the gun, well, that would be down to a new piece of glass. It really is pleasing and the IS does work. Even though I was cynical prior to using it. I thank Diane Varner for that.
It is a far cry from the commetns on shots such as this:

Fuzzy! It's the lens... it's the lens!

Mooch, this is one of my favorites shots of the entire lot. Congrats :)

Mooch, can you explain more by what you mean with the comment "and the IS does work"? Thanks.
Jem said 206 days ago:
CraigMartin: The IS (Image Stabilisation) on the lens I believe is what Mooch is refering to :)
CraigMartin said 206 days ago:
Right you are - I should have paid closer attention to the "new piece of glass". I thought he was referring to some new sharpening process...
Thanks.
