computer problem? I'm guessing yes.... A 'blue screen' would work!
rosedaddy said 507 days ago:
yeah, windows is like that

@mooch: when your (almost) brand new (but not under warranty anymore) computer screen starts looking like this, I can tell you it's a real PITA :O)
@Ana: you're definitely a pain... A blue screen! Tsss... (I'm kidding, of course) :O)
King said 507 days ago:
The screen display doesn't have a lot of specific meaning to me, but I do think that computers can be a PITA all too often.
philippe said 507 days ago:
@King: probably it never happened to you, but when you see likes of pixels like these, it means you screen is definitely damaged and the cost of a new screen is a real PITA...

read "lines"
King said 507 days ago:
philippe,
I've bought a new screen for my laptop (after dropping it). Yes, a definite PITA and if I had considered that, I would have given you straight 5's on this one.
Bummer. Sorry, dude.

Well, it seems I failed to make the message clear enough on my two last posts.
As for the first one, it maybe too obvious...
mooch said 507 days ago:
Um, well, a few lines, they just looked like part of a black backdrop, almost abstract cool. Also, I have had two vaio laptops in my life and neither has ever had a screen problem so I perhaps didn't make the immediate connection of "laptop" and "pain in the a ss". I did wonder about those lines but couldn't be certain. Hence the immediate question...

If you don't want that PITA laptop, I'll take it off your hands.

I assume it's some hardware failure that causes those stripes on the monitor - and that really IS a pain in the ass.
So high scores. The only thing that is a bit distracting is those cables and stuff in the background - but hey, if that was the biggest problem with my pics... :)

philippe,
how can a notebook be almost brand new but out of warranty already? Shouldn't a warranty be valid for at least a year? And a one-year-old notebook is not really "almost brand new" :(
bioLarzen said 506 days ago:
mooch,
first I thought of that also - that the lines are part of the desktop theme - but then i realized they continue at the tray.
philippe said 506 days ago:
Biolarzen, you're right, let's say it's "quite new", at least I didn't expect an important problem so soon.
bioLarzen said 506 days ago:
philippe,
that's the thing with hardware failure - you just never expect it to happen, so it always catches you unawares, plus always at the worst possible moment (see "Murphy's law" and amendments...)...

OFF
And, at least, this failure looks good, right? Much more pleasant than a blue death screen :DDD
