It's the head of a black bear. I killed it in bow season a few years ago, you can still see the carbon arrow that broke off and the tip of the broadhead, definitely a PIA for the bear.

@pretorious...was it a good shot? What do you do with a dead bear? Seriously. I'm curious. Is there a limit on how many you can shoot? Is the area overpopulated with bears?

King, I consider it a PITA for the bear because a shot like that should have killed the bear instantly but it lived another 30 minutes or so, in fact I had to shoot it a second time in the heart to finally kill it but it took me about 30 minutes to find it after the first shot because it ran.
As for a good shot, I think it was because I didn't want him to suffer, I really thought a shot in the head would kill him instantly and he'd never know what hit him but it didn't work out that way. The shot was deadly and placed exactly where I aimed because of the position of both the bear and me we were in at the time.
I donated the meat to families in the area in poverty and mounted the head. There is a serious over population of black bears in our area and the DNR are worried that there are more of them than there is food to support them over the winter months, thus the license to kill 2 per season is issued to each hunter.
