Thanks Owen, you're right. As a note of color these are the infamous Scottish midges, they are barely visible life size, but boy, do they bite!...

Oh, and the reason there is a wee heap of them: we had a "midge machine" which basically captures the wee buggers. This is a teaspoon of the victims on a piece of white paper...
