Those eyes are truly lovely. The depth in them and their color is just breathtaking.

I also really like the shallow depth of field. To me it looks like it was done in Photoshop, but I am not sure. Either way, I think it works for this image.

I also like the framing, though I do wish that his nose was not cut off! But maybe he was moving, so it was probably difficult.

I am also a distracted by the noice in the orange blurry parts of the fur (e.g., bottom left corner, and the fur on the right side of the image). You might want to clean this up using PS.

And finally, this orange doesn't quite pop the way it does in some of the other photos. I don't think this is at all a detriment to this particular photo - I don't think you'd WANT it to have more orange. But as for the relevance to the theme, I think the orange is just a little bit lacking.

Thanks Lumi, for the detailed comment. The shallow depth is all natural (this was taken with a Canon 100mm at f/2.0), and the noise is caused by the fact that this was shot at ISO 1600 (and I agree, I should clean some of that noise up in PS).
Yep, I too would have like to have his nose in there...but he was pacing furiously back and forth (I asked him to stand still for me, but he just said, "mmmmphm!".
I was inspired to take this photo after reading Yann Martel's, Life of Pi.
Anyway, thanks for the great feedback.

I haven't read Life of Pi, but have heard the story. I like what that adds to the story that this photo tells!

I like the composition and the tight crop for maximizing the impact. The high level of noise is a bit distracting.
