I'm not sure how much this speaks to me as opposites. I like the colour, and I think the composition could have been a bit better..Maybe more sky less grass..But that's just my personal taste, i don't like things cut in the middle. And for me i think this photograph needs just another element to make it more affective.

I actually took the shot this morning and I thought "light and dark".

I appreciate the input very much since I am really pretty "new" or more like "re-new" at this. (25 years of neglecting the camera I'm afraid.)

I think I get that the silhouette is supposed to contrast with the sky, and so that's how this conveys opposites? It's not terribly obvious though...

I do love the color of the sky however. I like the slight amount of detail that is visible in the cloud layer.

I wonder if you took any shots just a bit lower, so that the grass really forms the horizon? Right now I think the water in the background is competing to be the horizon, and I think it might be a stronger silhouette if it were just the grass against the sky. Maybe you took a few shots and even have one like that?

Unfortunately, It was pretty hard to see at that hour and I didn't notice how the ocean in the background was "competing" until I got it into the computer. I still like the shot though.

The dune grass was fairly sparse, and it appeared to be newly planted in this spot, so there was more sand than grass which I actually liked.

I really appreciate the input. It definitely gives me some things to consider, and since this is a learning experience for me, I will take it to heart.

Thanks! It's from Sandy Hook NJ. I have several shots on my blog from that area and more to come in the near future. I am a big fan of the ocean and coastal life.
