I see what you are going for, but it seems to fit a theme of changes a bit more than opposites. Also the left image looks to be a bit over exposed and the right image looks a lot better overall. Also the person or animal that is in the right one bugs me, in that it just dosnt seem to fit.

I like...I have come to discover this theme is difficult without photoshop or two photos together.... i like

This combination is fascinating... doesn't scream of opposites, but extra credit for capturing two similar but fascinatingly different photos.

Ah, thanks folks. Mark Hamilton, you're right on, it's the wet and dry seasons in Northern Thailand (Pai to be exact)... about 6 months apart.
BeforeProfit, it's a person that's buggin ya, but I think it's perfect with Mark's interpretation on the shot of human influance. I'm sorry they're not better exposed, one day I'll prolly fix'em up right. :) Thanks again.

I think that this is very well done, and I appreciate the effort you put into making this correspond to the "opposites" theme.
I really like the photo on the right. The one on the left seems a bit messy to me, and I wonder if increased contrast would have helped? Or taking it in the early morning or late afternoon to take advantage of more interesting light (which would also help add some depth). However, the one on the left is a great complement to the one on the right. I'm going to have to take some like these - I like this idea!

i don't think the point of the theme was to find two complementary images that were opposites but more to find an image that expresses the concept of "opposites"...
paired images are a large part of my work but since i chose to rule out that option for my own submission(s) i am using this image (though there are others) to make that point
sorry
honestly, given that, it is hard for me to rate the images further, i guess i just feel to biased.

it would have been stronger if they were exactly the same composition....even so its not all that compelling...

I have to say that I'm rating this very high because I have this thing for "before and after" shots. To me, they tell a story unlike any others. The story here seems to be the opposite seasons: the season of growth and low impact from humans and then a shot from the end of a season where the place gets worn down to the dirt. Mountain bicycles?
Very nice photograph- a tip of the hat to you.
