I love that people seem to be straying from just showing old things and showing us some really nice vintage processing.
This is a beautiful example. The framing is certainly interesting, though I'm not sure I like the flowers in the foreground sticking up so high into the frame. I'm sure others will disagree.

I definatly get a feeling of old from this. What all did you do to this?
JustinGaynor said 472 days ago:
Great shot, love the processing!

Old picture on old film? The distracting abberations are tough to overcome here, even though they do set the old feel.
Getting above the weeds in the foreground is where I'd start to try and improve this compositionally.

I love oil paintings. Really cannot decide if I like this or not.
mooch said 472 days ago:
There you go Ana, this building is considered old at 100 years. Yet in terms of Britain this isn't all that old. Difficult to define really...

Marty,
If I recall, this was processed with a blurred overlay, lowered contrast, cross processed curve, color balance and a desaturated texture.

Its really awesome, and I think quite possibly one of the most popular if not the most in the theme so far!!! I definatly am enjoying it!!!
Hummingbird said 472 days ago:
This is excellent.

This appears to address a definition of 'old' that I'm not aware of.
Ana said 472 days ago:
mooch...you seem to be the one assigned to pick on me this week! yippee! :)
Yes, "age" is going to be relative for this theme, which is precisely why I voted against it. It had absolutely no theme description, and we are all going to have to be VERY open minded.
King said 472 days ago:
I *love* it. I just need, now, to know the story. Is the aged quality a matter of post-processing? No matter. This is great. High marks.

Breaking my rule in rating this because I'm pretty confident I know who this belongs to ;) I love the effect though. I like the plant in the fireground, except where it cuts the top of the barn. The rest of it follows the composition of the trees up and towards the edge of frame. The other bit is distracting.
dennis said 472 days ago:
That would be the plant in the FOREground, not fireground. Stupid fingers.
"You have what my old music teacher, Mrs Mellinger, called STUPID fingers. With hands like that you'd be lucky to master a belt buckle.."

I like the old world feeling to this. Wish there was a bit more contrast or something to it, but still really well done.
ChriZ said 471 days ago:
Jason, I admire your processing skills and this image is a good example in what you're capable of, It isn't the usual style you edit your images, it's different and I like those flexibilities some artists don't have...
High marks!
King said 470 days ago:
So why isn't this featured?
ChriZ said 470 days ago:
bug...
King said 470 days ago:
Jason, how did you get the effect in the clouds that makes them look scuffed or scratched? Is that just a texture layer?
This is a wonderful image, IMHO.

I took that to mean that he did indeed use a texture layer. The effect is great.
Something like crumpled tissue paper...

Jason! Thank God! I thought I was the only human left on planet WeeklyShot! (Saturday night, 8:48 PM CDT).
I just wanted more information on the texture layer. I like things like that. Was Baris (digitalpeace) still participating when you joined W.S.?

No, but I believe you (or someone else) directed me to his user page. I visited his site, and tried contacting him, but never received a response. Some of those images (like this one) have a real simple beauty to them.
I too would like some more specific information of layering effects like this. I've tried feebly on a number of occasions to mimic a similar style, but I've never achieved any pleasing results.

I am curious to know if this 'is' and old image or if it was 'made' to look like an old image. Either way the image itself is quite interesting.

is this an old photograph?
