I very much like the shot but feel perhaps you should have kept this until the next theme, which looks to be... words!

For me it was two things, that I interpret this with old. First is the font of the Letters.

Second, the message of the text is "John 3:16 from the bible".
There stands that God give the world his son, about his love for us. And that we have eternal live, when we believe at him.

This event, that Jesus came to the world, happened before more as two thousend of years. For me, that is old.

I know, the problem is, that the text is in german. And I think many in the WS community cannot read german. Therefore I do not assume, that the people understand, where for me is the relevance here.

This place is *dead* on a Saturday night. Might as well chat about this photo. I'm enjoying looking at what appears to be Bible verses in German--I don't speak German. Some interesting processing you've got going on here, although it looks like oversharpening is spoiling the party. Otherwise, I like it. 4 on Relevance.

As I am not a religious person, I find this image to be more pleasing, I think, than if it were presented in English, in which case it would appear to be proselytization.

Okay, who took this photo with one rating and three comments. One assumes that there has been an exchange between the one rater and the photographer. Oh, boy, conversation here I come.

Hey there, saw this on your blog!
This sure is old, referring to the bible itself.
I find the contrast from the blurry and the readable part a bit to extreme, it's almost too crisp!
I hope you know what I mean...
anyways, great take!

nice effort. the effect seems cheesy to me. no real visual impact as far as composition goes.

This makes my head spin when I'm looking at it with all the blur. The selective focus in porcessing doesn't work very well either. This is a great idea though.

Since he did focus on the scripture, I think it is obvious. but then again, it is in german and not everybody would understand it, so I guess it's not that obvious for everybody after all.

I caught what he was going for, but I did not know exactly what the text said. That may have helped understand the message.

@King: I`m glad that the picture at least was a bit of entertainment on your saturday night.. although at the same time I`m sorry, that no one was around to make conversation (I was in bed at that time..).

@ChrisZ: Jes, I fully understand yuor point, considering the PP. On the other hand I really wanted to have a big contrast to it, because it is the best verse. It tells us the most important message in the Bible.

@john: It was a compromis for me, because on one hand I wanted to hold out the verse, on the other hand I myself am not sure if I like the picture. This time I put more value on the message, although many may not understand it.. Now, since I didn`t even get up to a 3 in any of the rating categories, I know it`s a bad picture.

@beckn32: Thank you for your constructive critics. For the reason I did it that way, read on top..

@Ana: I assume, the answer I gave to mooch has cleared your question.. if not, I would be happy to give you a more detailed translation.

@nattfodd: please read the upper answers!

@eduardo: Yes, this is a message - which obviousely didn`t spring over. But I was aware, and took the risk, that most people don`t speak German.

@SeekingFokus: ChrisZ already answered partly, the bible in general is old. The book I used was written in 1912. But although the Bible is old, the Word written in it is up to date..

hum, I see what you are trying to do here, but the images appears much to fabricated to be valid or even as a fantasy.

THX, no problem ;) I have absolutly no problem with all the comments here. My feelings are not hurt. Accordings to my bad ratings, I have to admit to my self, that the conversion of this picture is bad.
