Why the all portraits of old people is always in black-and-white? (This is not a criticule)...

interesting shot :) and the light on her face is great as well, a bit different :)

She has a great face. The background is a bit too blinding...distracts some from her facial features. I like your composition, though.

Nice shot, but I wouldn't call her hold. It's just a matter of relativity, isn't it. So many portraits of people in this theme who are my age or younger, yet I don't *feel* a day over 40.
What's so interesting about the right side of the photo that you had to crop so close to the woman's head? Did someone tell you that that sort of cropping makes a photo more interesting?

Because I am very partial to portraits I wanted to comment on this shot irregardless of the theme. I find the lighting on her face to actually detract from the image. It is rather flat combined with the parts of sunlight that are on her face. Her expression seems that she is attempting the beginnings of a smile toward you, which can border on 'snapshot' perception on a portrait. Increasing the contrast on this image at least on her face would help quite a bit.

@pursang...I agree about the lighting on the woman's face, but didn't feel like commenting on it earlier. I only mention it now because you brought it up and I wanted to add my voice to the opposition. :>)
I guess digital cameras handle this mottled kind of light better than most film and chemical processes can.

She reminds me of third grade teacher. I like the eyes.

Great job with the shadows across her face and she's a beauty. I'm not a fan of the compostition though. Too much space to the right and not enough space above her head.
