Works for the theme. I think it's a little too dark and the tones a bit muddy.

White background and shadows on face are a little distracting.

Maybe I'm getting old, but I don't see this person as *that* old. It's a little dark, and compositionally it's pretty straight forward. Not bad, not great.

I feel as if her face is too much in shadow. I keep being drawn away from her face to look at other aspects of the photo instead.

what a great capture of such a human expression we all share from time to time. the raw essence of a powerful image is right here. with a different composition and post processing, this would be fantastic in large format. her face is too dark and lacks enough contrast to bring out her angst fully.
