Shiny!

Lovely old machine. Looks in good condition as well. It looks like it's very very very slightly off horizontal, but that might even just be a very small perspective problem (or I'm cockeyed). Great car mag shot.

Can't really fault much on this, apart from that it's a little too "new" old, if you see what I mean. High marks anyhow.

So, this isn't *yours* then, Vern? All the time I was writing the first comment, I was thinking, "I can't believe he has a car this beautiful *and* all that talent...". I think you're more of an AC Cobra man though....

@dennis

Not the kind of perfection we've come to expect from you Vernon ;)

Looks like one of VT's to me. Beautifully shot, the finish on the paintwork and the lamp and chrome details are sumptuous. Not sure on the relevance though as it says "retro" to me more than "old".

The pride of Germany!
Maybe not the typical old-timer, but it fits the theme and is executed very good!
or should I just say,
high marks!
VernonTrent said 1084 days ago:
perhaps this shot is something for "car experts" or "car lovers" who know everything about a car at the first sight. a 48 years old car is "old" from my point of view. :-)
anyway, I'm glad to present you such a pearl of german precision :-))
Ana said 1084 days ago:
Well, I'm not surprised this has been featured... it's a wonderful photograph. But, I honestly don't see this as being old in the slightest, despite it being 'old' "for a car." This is so shiny and new looking, that if this shot were outside the 'old' theme, and a hundred people were asked to use adjectives to describe it, I'm guessing not many would say 'old.' Classic? Yes..but old...no. Too clean and shiny for that!
None the less, great shot of a pretty car.
VernonTrent said 1084 days ago:
I see, there are more versions of understanding "old" :-)
in europe we say to such cars also "oldtimer" :-)
VernonTrent said 1084 days ago:
oh,
thanks for your feedback :-)
King said 1084 days ago:
Folks,
I hope we don't get stuck in this theme on the idea that old simply means ancient.
As Vernon so aptly states, "...there are more versions of understanding 'old'."
There is the old way of doing things.
There is old, outdated technology.
There are the good old days and the good old boys.
In my old job, I was a lexicographer.
Ana said 1084 days ago:
@King. There are very many interpretations of "Old." I agree. I've stretched my mind very far for most of these photos that have been presented and I've assumed that what is being posted is in fact, old.
The main reason I gave this theme a "NO" vote was because it didn't have a description. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy leaving things open to interpretation, (part of the beauty of photography) but most of the time (on WS) it leads to a lot of people being angry and dispondent(as evidenced by the actions of few people during this, and other poorly written themes.)

Whew, classic VT! I only wish it was a Chevy Impala! ;-) Great job Mr. Precision, get over to the States soon!

This almost *has* to be a Vernon Trent (ultra wide-angle / deep, saturated tones / dodging and burning to enhance / looks like Dusseldorf), but I'm not sure. I also don't know a 1932 Bentley from a 2002 Rolls...oh, this is a Mercedes, huh?
Nice work, though. I'll give you a 4 on Relevance trusting that this is an old and (and fabulously maintained) luxury car. I think the burning is a bit heavy handed on the left and upper left, but that's largely a matter of taste.
High marks in general.
