i love the lighting on her face.

Great smile!

Still a great shot...but I still think you could try to lighter her forehead and maybe even a little around her eyes. But those are just nit-picks, and I look forward to seeing it on the front page!

Take by the peson who wrote the book, "The Zone System for DSLR"? I guess this is just one of the things camera RAW can do. This is avery nice high-key portrait, and what a sweetheart!
I like the way the shape of the bonnet, cropped as it is, echoes the shape of the left lens, cropped as it is. This is an image full of pleasing parabolas.

Good work, high marks.

What a lot of character and wisdom you can see in that face. I wish you had lightened it up a little more so we could see her eyes better. Other than that, great catch.

this looks great. i love the swoop of the hat and the smirk on her face. maybe some relective light coming from below the lens would bring out some detail above her eyes.

Great shadow details here

The exposure of this shot is so natural. It adds to the complexity of the image. I know that waiting or hoping for a person to move their head this way or that when shooting strangers is very difficult and often results in an unnatural look. In this case her warm smile is such an essential element to the image that the darkness of her forehead is secondary. I really like the choice of composition as well. But her chin ribbon is what really makes this shot for me.

Beautiful. Don't you just wanna take her home to meet the kids, and say "look kids, meet your new grandmother"!
She looks like she just poured salt in someone's coffee!
Wish I could have rated this, just to be able to say TWENTY FIVE, out loud again.

Yeah, congrats Kyla. You know I love this image and wish I could have rated it but this is the first moment that I have made it to WS since the theme change.

I saw this one earlier today, and wondered why it had not been featured... nice shot. Definitely says 'old'.

CraigMartin said 482 days ago:

Congrats. No surprise.
