Don't listen to them Jason. I for one, love saturated colors. I don't want to live in the desaturated world I see depicted on WS so often.

Thanks for the comments... I tried to process this as close to how I saw it as possible. It was sunset, outside of Carlsbad, NV. It really was quite brilliant.

To go a bit further, this says me (sorry for my bad english) more desert or abandoned place than old (with my european references) - as concerning the colors that's just fine like taht on "my" european monitor ;-)) - forgot to say, high rating and great Image !!

Thanks for the very detailed comments and explanation of your ratings. I understand coming from Europe (I have traveled extensively there) that your definition of Old is quite different than perhaps that of many people in our 'new' country. But still 'Old' is relative, and when I saw this I thought, "There's an old gas station," more than "There's a really old building." But you're right; at best this building is maybe only 40 or 50 years old...

Oui, tout est relatif and that is what "Old" is : all relative !!!
For instance, when I traveled in New -Zealand something of say 150 years old WAS OLD, which for US (europeans) is hard to get...
I guess Einstein on this matter too was right, again!!!

Perhaps I should clarify, it is only the fluorescent color that bothered me, the rest of the colors I really liked. :-)))

Understood. I have to agree with the many comments, that if I were to see this image outside of the 'Old' theme, I might not say old either. I was just trying to go for something a little different than all the wrinkled faces! It might not scream old, but I'd still describe it as "an old gas station."

But I'm young, so anything(one) more than *ahem* eighteen years old is old enough... Er, nevermind.

Which color would that be? Are you talking about the red in the building? I just got a print done of this image, and in (the real world) it doesn't look over saturated at all. I can see on the monitor I am on now (not my usual display) they are maybe a bit too loud.

I see the red in the building too Jason. it actually looks "day-glo" orange as I'm viewing it at the moment. Red's tricky though and I can well imagine that it might print just fine.

Everything else looks perfectly natural. Reminds me of a trip to Carlsbad a few years ago, driving back to El Paso, TX. Awesome skies. Ahh, happier days :P

Jason...what can I say that others haven't already mentioned? Great shot. I've looked at it several times and wondered if the relativity of "old" would not be a barrier to its being featured. I could have helped by rating it, but I didn't.

If I saw this, as I see it onscreen, printed (offset press) I would think the that it was 5 colors instead of just CMYK, the fifth color being a fluorescent pantone. That is how bright it is for me, that is not to say that it couldn't be in reality, sunsets provide spectacular unbelievable colors all the time.

I *love* flourescent pantone colors.

@King, they sure can make an image pop off the page when printed offset with CMYK, I just *love* PMS colors too.

Okay, okay... you guys are freaking me out. I'm getting rid of that pink immediately. Strange things are starting to happen around here...

...haven't been able to get my leg down since. I have to hop on one foot in that position. People try to hide it, but I know they are laughing behind my back.

...but enough about me. Let's talk some more about PMS colors. I think it would be fun to "copy" this image and put little PMS/Pantone color swatches all over it, with editing marks. Do you want to do it Tracy, or should I take the first whack?
