Fantastic. This is one of the first I've seen where I'd say the noise makes an already good image great.

I like the way the shot is vintage looking, and the tint. But I'm ambivalent about the grain, it's almost chunky. Still, a good image for sure.

The subject is better than most as far as relevance to the theme is concerned in that it brings to mind noise that must be there at a different time.

Good exercise on linear perspective, though it looks like a fragment cut from bigger image - and that's why the grain is as big as it is.

No it is not a fragment cut from a bigger image.
This shot has been taken more than 20 years ago with a film whose quality was worst if compared with the actual film. Second issue: I used a low ISO speed film exposed for high ISO speed, 800 if I remember well, to get the noise effect. Finally a contribution to the noise comes also from the weather: mist and moisture.

The tones are simply fabulous, as is the composition with the delicate intricacies of the cables snaking above the single set of railtracks that plunges forward. When the gaze has reached the point where the sky meets them in a cloud of dust, the mind is full of questions and keeps searching the horizon.
