I think I see what you wanted to do here. Please permit me to speculate. You saw the lightning in the distance and you were hoping to fill the winter sky over the mountains with lightning flashes. Unfortunately, the weather system didn't quite cooperate and you ended up with a thin sliver of lightning and a wide landscape shot.

I've had more than one shoot that went down just like that.

Or, perhaps I'm completely wrong. That happens a lot around here.

I love the atmosphere on this, the clouds, the little lightning in the background. I think however that the light flare on the building doesn't add to the picture, in fact, it's kinda distracting. Still looks very nice!

@Ana: Yes, it's a ski resort on the "Gran Sasso d'Italia", the highest mountain of the Central Apennines. It's the place were i spent the New Year's Day! :-)

@kadenajack: why wheater don't cooperate with photographers???? Your speculation is right! :-)

@bbence: the light flare is caused by the long exposition and the small aperture that i use (f/16) to extend as much as possibile the DOF.

I love that tiny bolt of lighting in the distance, and the way the storm clouds are lighted up above.
