Nice idea, but something isn't working for me. The trees at the bottom aren't adding much.

This actually looked fairly striking as a thumbnail, but now as I open it up it's striking for a whole different reason. Now that I see it full size in all it's gritty, grainy glory (alliteration, anyone?) I'm getting a very distinct War Of The Worlds feeling from this.

The lighthouse is some alien behemoth, a war machine lumbering towards the line of trees in which we've taken shelter. Will we evade capture? Will we be crushed unseen underfoot? I can't tell you how it all ends yet, but the suspense is killing me.

I love it.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I took this about 20 years ago for a college photography class. I shot it on B&W film and processed it myself in the darkroom. I had a devil of a time scanning it to post here, and I never did quite get it to look the way I wanted. I think my technique and quality scores suffered from that and because it's a exposed more than I would like if I had to do it again.

The Relevance score stumps me though. It's got a 3.65 as of this writing. What's not "night" about this? I've been rating just about every picture as a 5 or 4 for Relevance in this theme. I'm not sure where I went wrong on that one.

I really like this image. Great exposure and really good sense of scale but feel the image quality lets it down.

Such a shame that there is so much noise in this one otherwise it's a total stonker, poster-on-the-wall type image!
