Hmm, not keen on the white corner/top, distracts me away from the focus of the shot

the white corner is the sky. very important when you fly without instruments :-)

without the clouds, this would work. the clouds fill up too much of the space, and become a second subject.

This is definitely negative space.

But somehow it's not grabbing me. I think it's because the dark element (is that a parachuter?) is so tiny and lacks detail that I don't really know why I am supposed to pay attention to it.

I also find the white band at the top to be strange and distracting.

I would love to hear from you, however, what you see in this image because I have the feeling I am not truly understanding it.

The clouds surrounding the skydiver really serve as plenty of negative space. The big white area at the top adds nothing for me.

I dislike the large white area at the top of the image. I feel it would be a bit more successful with a different crop to get rid of this.

This just doesn't do it for me. Yes there is a lot of negative space. But that negative space doesn't really compliment the parachutist well. The white bar at top, possibly the wing of the jump plane(?), and the flat tones really take away from the subject. I think with a crop, some post processing, this could have more visual impact then it does now.

I think most folks feel that 'negative space' means that it's one color or non color. For me negative space is 'space' so this one hits the mark.
