May have been a good idea at first, but that is no photography, no impact at all ;) A grey card is useful for white balance, though heheheh

reality said 560 days ago:

i am afraid when there is nothing to focus on the space itself becomes the subject and there is no more negative space.

ArneG said 560 days ago:

Unless your screen is the object of focus.....

reality said 560 days ago:

ahhhhhhhhhhhh! sorry i missed that ArneG!!!! :)

ArneG said 560 days ago:

Chuckle - snort

SeekingFocus said 560 days ago:

YES! This must be King. Either way, I only rated relevance, and your point here was WELL TAKEN!

SeekingFocus said 560 days ago:

HEHE, ok. Not King. Good work ArneG. Make people think a little bit.

eggplant said 560 days ago:

This is certainly negative space...but is it? Maybe all the negative space is really all subject, and there's no negative space! : )

cdcootie said 560 days ago:

I think it changed my life :-)

dunny said 560 days ago:

heh woah

Very interesting. The emptiness is utterly minimal but also completely maximal (if that's a word). It's both empty and full - where nothing is everything. I wonder if that would make this images relevant not only as "negative" space but also the opposite, "positive" space and it might be called.

As the first "empty" image posted it also has a fair amount of impact. This is one of those images that works once and only once.

Ana said 560 days ago:

Indeed.

philippe said 560 days ago:

?

kyla said 560 days ago:

Don't you need something postive in order to have a negative. Good sense of humour but lacking in artistic flair.

kpaul said 560 days ago:

meh. too much negative space me thinks.

skomlos said 560 days ago:

I can't see anything, maybe a broken file?

George said 560 days ago:

This smacks of King. I gotta give it high marks for the tongue in cheek approach.

beckn32 said 560 days ago:

This definitely has impact, but was a camera even used to create this?

Jondor said 560 days ago:

Lacking positive space, there's no negative space either.

dennis said 560 days ago:

Ah, I do so need a laugh in the mornings ;) High marks for relevance and impact :P

JIMJIM said 560 days ago:

Perfect Grey.
Difficult to rate this one (even on relevance..)
(5 for the "Risk" !!)
For sure a tribute to Nihilism..

Ashish said 560 days ago:

Clever!

kadenajack said 559 days ago:

This must be a joke. There's no negative space at all. There is some great gray though. I think some judicious cropping on the left would have been helpful. Your focus seems a little soft too. Also the 23,678th pixel from the bottom right is a little too bright.

bioLarzen said 559 days ago:

I'm always happy to meet people with a sense of humor :)

bioLarzen said 559 days ago:

Haha - 25 comments on THIS one... Great, huh? :DDD

dcreighton said 559 days ago:

Why don't we all just post empty photos of nothing but color or tones and pat ourselves on the back for nailing the relevance of the theme? Didn't nail the intent of the theme though of course... (IMO). These seems more like an act of non-participation as much as anything else.

Ana said 559 days ago:

kadenjack....your comment made my day.

philippe said 558 days ago:

5 for Kadenajack's comment! :O))))

philippe said 558 days ago:

...and Erne, I like your sense of humour, too...

philippe said 558 days ago:

Er, Arne.

kadenajack said 558 days ago:

Oooooh, can I get featured for comments? Seems I'm picking up some steam on this one.

This theme has certainly generated some interesting photos and more interesting conversations about them and their relevance.

phototext said 556 days ago:

I think I prefer the black cat in a coal mine but I still think this one is funny too.

phototext said 556 days ago:

Ahhh, differant person. I wished I rated it higher then.

King said 553 days ago:

I see clouds. Anybody else see clouds? And perfectly framed, in a minimalistic kind of way, by the black border of my monitor.

phototext: You weren't by any chance referring to moi? I'm hurt.
