I wish we were a bit closer to see what it is. The snow may be a bit too bright also. It is an interesting shot.

I'm not sure the negative space really has any relevance or impact here. I can hardly tell what this is a photo of - a log in the snow? But I see no difference between this and a tighter crop.

but my old age eye sight and the size of the object make it hard for me to know exactly.

yes, it's a tree log lying on snow ( a frozen pond, actually)
