I'm afraid this image doesn't do it for me at all. Overall there is not enough variation in colour or tone for my taste. And there is no focal point of interest.

Nice! I wish there was a bit more tonal range, it's just so... blue. But I do really like it.

Is that a glacier? On my humble monitor this image is begging for a little (just a little) more oomph--that is, a little more contrast or a slighter shorter tonal scale or a speck of deep black or a glint, a sparkle of whitest white.
Otherwise, quite lovely.

You mean color contrast, variety or range in hue or chroma, I think. When I speak of tones, I'm usually referring to the grayscale rendering.
What is your understanding?

Thanks for the great comments. Yes, it is a glacer in Alaska. I understand the need for a bit of contrast bringing up the white snow vs. all the blue water and sky....

I mean I would like to see a bit more variety in the tones presented here. Some darker darks and lighter lights to go along with the primarily neutral tonal areas.
I was speaking of tones in regards to the greyscale meaning, though this is all blue, so one can speak of tones of blue. (So it seems, I may be wrong.)

Notwithstandng the theme, and the sea being "negative space", I feel like I want to see the shore closer up...and so it loses some impact I think.
