I think this would have been much more effective if it had been cropped so that the object on which the butterfly rests did not dominate so much.

CraigMartin,
But it's a Manfrotto...you can't just go around cropping out your Manfrotto!
CraigMartin said 554 days ago:
LOL - silly me, I thought the butterfly was the subject ;-)

I like this one a lot. Were you trying to shoot the moth at the time or did it insert itself into your photo shoot of something else?

Thank you all for the comments, it's nice to read them.
King and CraigMartin: the subject is of course the strange, unnatural connection between the butterfly and the tripod head. To emphasize this, the negative space shows that the butterfly does not want to leave that confortable place. (Oh, every time I find myself explaining my shots. :))
JIMJIM: it's actually hanging in a small photo shop right next to the Manfrotto stand. :)
kadenajack: I was shoothing a patch of mushrooms from ground level using bean bag, the tripod stood in the sunlight alone some meters away. Left the mushrooms and found this scene. Nothing more left than finding a suitable viewpoint and crop. I'd use a bouncer now to put just a hint of light to the closer side of the right wing, but still like this "fake symbiosis" image so much.

It's great. The shots you just stumble upon are sometimes the best. Nice work.

Great subject, and the DoF is spot on. However the tripod detail is maybe a little distracting.
