This is a competent photograph that illustrates the theme well.

I'm going to take issue with the cropping--not because there is too much space around the subject!

I think that hands tell so much about people that to crop across the musician's hand while leaving lots of room around the spotlight is not a good decision. Obviously, I don't know what's just out of frame below his hand, but that doesn't matter because I (the viewer, and amateur guitar plucker) want to see both of his hands, so it detracts from the sucess of the rest of the image, IMHO.
