That is serious RED!!!! I like this. At first wans't sure about the dead-center composition, but after looking for a while, I think it is a good choice.

Simple little shot on underlit plexiglas, I guess. Nice chiaroscuro effect.

why locate it IN the middle....and so small

Thanks. I used an off camera flash with a red roscoe theatrical gel over it. Placed that under the cherry, which is suspended with fishing line. A tiny bit of cloning needed to remove fishing line evidence. Red background is created entirely from flash spill on a white wall.

Why in the middle? Because I like images with things in the middle. If it was perfectly on a rule of thirds 'target' spot, that would bore me.

Why so small--because it's a small object, made smaller by surrounding space. If it filled the frame, it would be much larger than life, rather than the closer to life size that it is.

The cheery image should be placed to one side or, perhaps, the bottom of the frame to allow room for copy or product placement--once this shot makes the big time in the stock photography market--for the "National Cherry Growers Association" or "Don's Cherry Chevy Renovations" or "Don't Bust Your Cherry Buying the New iPod Phone."
