This is an interesting image of a an intriguing subject. This is one of the infrequent cases where I like the centered composition. That said, I think it could be stronger if you backed up a little to include the spiral arms all the way around, then cropped to a square image so all four sides would show about the same amount as the left and right do now. Actually, there are a number of interesting compositional possibilities here--I hope you explored them. You could go much tighter with, say, 3/4 of the circular area cut off and most of the frame filled with the spiral arms. Or back up to make the circular area smaller and move it near a corner, again filling most of the frame with spiral arms. Great subject and a fine image. Oh, one other suggestion: you may want to try a diffuser to soften or eliminate the specular highlights.

Good work, and congratulations, Thomas. A simple idea, well executed. Did you experiment with different backgrounds and colors? Directions of light? Points of focus? Doesn't matter...just curious. Well done.

This is a shot down into a green glass with natural light entering from around the top right.

King: I did try different backgrounds, directions of light, and points of focus. None of them turned out as well as this.

mitchh: There wasn't much room (if any) to back up more, and I'm not really one for cropping anyway. I did explore the limits of how much I could move in and out of the glass, but like I said, they didn't turn out as well.

Thanks everyone!
