Hey, dude, if I took that one, I'd go on tour with it... Just perfect... Can't say more, sorry.

I like it. Takes a moment or two to notice the "foot prints" which have a digitized effect to them...as if they really didn't exist. Plus, those are really small footsteps. Not sure about this one. I like it and but it seems unnatural. The technique is intriguing.

George,

There is no digitization here. This is a straight photograph. The footsteps do seem small, don't they?

Thanks, folks, for the appreciative comments.

I think it's a great image. I like the concept and it's technically perfect. But it looks photoshopped. Sorry if I'm wrong.

Hi, folks, and thanks for all the kind remarks.

Since this image is not likely to be featured, I'll reveal the secret.

This was shot for a national ad for a deoderant (the original was an 8x10 inch transparency, shot with a Sinar view camera). My assistant constructed the tile on a piece of 4x8 plywood. The art director "styled" the towel.

The footprints are those of my assistant, reproduced as hi-contrast stencils of diminishing size and painted in using glycerin and water (glycerin helps the liquid maintain its shape and resist evaporation) in order to force a receding perspective.

Some folks will be displeased with this description, but Ana, who suggested this theme, would argue that it fits perfectly within the scope of the theme.

Very professional!

Interesting to read how this was done.
