There is a curious abstraction in this image. What (I believe) is the edge of a cloud also looks at first glance like a lightening bolt between two lamps and incorporating the moon. It sets up a rather surreal effect in what is otherwise a normal neighborhood. The effect is both confusing and interesting.

Very well done. Great effect on that light too. It looks as though it's zapping the house...and I sincerely hope it wasn't....because the next photo would have probably involved the fire department.

Jeffs' right, the 'lightening' is the fringe of a cloud which the moon is backlighting. Ana, the moon was there (hence the cloud's fringe lighting), but I added a composite of the moon taken from a much faster exposure of the scene on top of the over-exposed moon. Flipthom, lol.
