Ha! I was wondering whether you'd put this up.

Most of the world doesn't know what the story is with this shot so here goes:
This coal transport ship "Pasha Bulker" was washed up on Nobby's Beach in Newcastle on Friday during what has been the regions worst weather in 34 years.
So believe it or not, this is now in my neighbourhood. Pretty amazing sight. Nobby's Beach is one of the city's major beaches. This scene can now be seen from many vantage points in the central business district of Newcastle.
Some salvage experts believe that it is likely to stay there for many years to come.
So, yep. It is in my neighborhood. I am expecting Relevance to take a bit of a beating on this one however as this definately isn't the kind of thing you find in most neighborhoods.

Great story. Don't worry, I gave you a 4 on relevance on faith alone.

Now this seems like a truly unusual neighborhood and looks very cold and isolated to me.

Parking that a little close in aren't they? Or perhaps the captain didn't hear the "Land Ho!" earlier. Great capture.

Do you live on the beach? Nice image, good processing and composition.
Lemmingstone said 409 days ago:
Not on the beach pursang but it is now definately in the neighborhood unfortunately. Here are the earth co-ords of where I took the shot if anyone is REALLY interested. 32°55'30.30"S 151°47'34.84"E :)

I love this dramatic photograph. Other than the great misfortune and possible environmental harm, I would love to have been standing next to you to see this. What's the story? High marks.

Very high marks - beautiful shot!
BTW: Does your neighborhood happen to be the Australian East Coast? I'm from Denmark, and I recognize this ship ("Pasha Bulker") as a Danish ship mentioned in the news yesterday - it's grounded off the Australian East Coast at Newcastle.
christofferjon said 408 days ago:
Ah, I see your comments now (after I commented). It is the same ship I was talking about.

?? but nice image anyway
Hummingbird said 408 days ago:
Congrats, I'm glad this featured.
pursang said 408 days ago:
Wow, that is quite the story!

I read about this yesterday in my weekend newpaper. The ship, Pashe Bulker also has oil on board. The shot they used (which I did feel had great impact and was provided by a photographer from Getty) had a man in the foreground on the ship to the left. The scale was very much evident.
Article here (online version):

I can't find the image used in the paper though.
I like your processing to this image.

This is the best shot I've seen of this incident so far and a great one for the theme, not everyday such a thing happens in your neighborhood and very current.
The choice of b/w is excellent.
It also answers my question from your comment on my shot, is Lemmingstone Australian.

The light and glow really create a dramatic mood. In fact, the whole frame is filled with tension. I really like this. I'm not detracting from your score on the neighborhood theme, I'm just looking forward to an explanation on how this is your neighborhood. Very high marks.
