I like the idea of the light trails, but the image's white balance really detracts from the image. I know how difficult it is to take images in stage lighting, but how the color appears is critical.

I'm new to this type of photography and I set the white balance to a red paint sample from a hardware store.

Is this technique of using a surreal white balance novice ( i.e. equivalent of using built in photoshop filters such as solarize)?

This looks like one of those "artsy" shots that some musicians put inside their album art. Very cool...especially the color lights to the side and the mystified expression on the guitar player.
