Thanks everyone for the comments. zorilla, my parole officer shares your opinion, so you're in great company. This was taken at this year's Cherry Blossom Festival in San Francisco. The 10 year old girl you see in the picture is an amazing koto player. Focused and very talented. The lighting conditions were HORRIBLE in the venue and it was a real challenge to shoot there. But I'm very happy with the image especially her hand position on the instrument.

Resubmit for Hands!

King, I don't resubmit the same images for different themes. Just a personal thing. I know many people do that, but I don't like to. My priority is not a Feature, but just to get comments on my work.

If I were to resubmit for this theme it would be this one: http://www.weeklyshot.org/theme/orange/response/119/
for the Orange theme. It got my third highest rating since I've been here, but was never featured. My petulant attitude about not being featured made me drop off for a while, but George brought me back from immaturity with his kind words.

Mark...I was just building up to my punchline, "Resubmit for Paws!" (see the string of comments).

There was an exceptionally small proportion of features in the "Orange" theme, it seems to me. How could yours not have been featured? That's crazy! Good for George...and good for you for coming back.

Like I said, I was in a period of immaturity. But I did use the image for the cover of my first book.

My two cents on resubmitted images:

I have no problem with members resubmitting images, previously featured or not, just as I don't mind seeing self-portraits again and again, although I prefer different versions of the self-portraits.

I've resubmitted images on four occasions. Three times I resubmitted images with significant changes reflecting the constructive criticisms I had recently received. None of those items was featured before or after the second submission, although one almost was, but didn't have enough ratings before the theme closed.

The fourth time was when the original, featured image was inverted for the second submission, which was also featured. In this instance, each version was distinctly appropriate to the theme.

King, like I said, for me it's just a personal choice to NOT resubmit images. I understand why others including yourself choose to do so.

I'm not arguing with you, just urging you. Look at how many new members would value seeing your Orange photo (those who haven't already browsed your user page).

I respect your position.

I have two other shots that I will do early next week for my other submissions to this theme. Thanks.

King, I have it on pretty good authority that if "Orange 2" came up as a theme Mark would submit that shot, but until then..... ;-)

Let's see what he can do with puce. That's a challenge.
