Thank you! George, you're right about that clump of flowers in the back, especially as I didn't realize when I took this picture that those flowers would also be in focus. I should learn to use my depth-of-field preview button more often! :)

Judith, ..... this is neat!
I am so use to seeing your wonderful landscapes instead of something in macro. :)
From looking at your landscapes, I can tell that you already have a great eye for macro, ... and it shows here!!
Atta girl!

I actually think those in focus flower at upper right balance this image. Without them the fly would be the complete center of attention and a viewer would look at the fly, follow it's body position and implied gaze, and go right out of the photo. As it is now the fly is the obvious subject, really stands out, and your eyes bounce back and forth in the image. The longer your eyes stay in a photo the more positive impact it has subconciously. Congrats.

Judith,
Your photos have a distinctive beauty. This is a good example of tht. I agree with Dan about the clump on the right.

Judith? Is that you? I have to say the only nitpick I have is the in focus clump of flowers at the top right pulls my eye away from the fly. Perhaps if there was a fly on that, too, it would balance the principal subject here, which is obviously the fly. Could you arrange that please? I kid! And of course this is just one person's opinion :-) A stunner of an image, regardless. 5s from me (with a 4 on Technique just cuz of that clump of flowers, but that ain't gonna interfere with what is obviously an image headed for feature-dom).
