It took me a little while to understand what I was looking at, and I had to go to the upper-left corner to get it. The fact that most of the frame is totally out of focus and the wave on the beach has not a really interesting shape doesn't work for me...

Chris - Yes, it's a crop from a scanned slide.

I really like this one...I even like the fact that the top includes the other side of the water. It gives the shot balance. It would be very fitting without the top section, too.

sil - I thought so - it has that great film feel, maybe it's the grain and/or the tones.
