What a place! I'd be going back here with a tripod early in the morning or late evening.

This was as close as I could get without risking a drenching. The sea was rushing through this fissure at quite a pace. You can tell how deep it was by the darkness of the water.
I chose this crop because it shows the texture of the granite on either side of the fissure. I think the two angled surfaces in the foreground help guide the eye into the picture.
I suppose what I'm saying is that I chose both the shooting position and the crop very carefully.

Beautiful location - where is this? (great for the theme too)

It's a cove near in the far west of Cornwall called Nanjizal. Here's another shot I took there: www.flickr.com/photos/roger/146909095/

The shooting position is perfect!

I love this shot. The colours and details in the rocks and water are fantastic.

Wow this is a really awesome landscape image. Straight 5's across the board. I love how I can see through this tunnel of rocks and water to sea beyond. On an abstract level this could be taken as two legs too... (I know I'm warped).

I keep coming back to this. Can't believe this hasn't been featured yet.

I like this shot. Very "deserted island" exploring. it's almost inviting you into reach the other side. Is that a patch of land inside?
Roger said 535 days ago:
No, it's just a jumble of rocks that the sea was breaking over.

ah yes.... really great. Looking through, twice! A tighter crop, perhaps, but really great.
