Thanks Roberta. I don't expect this to get featured. But I am interested to know what folks think of it, both on its own merit and in context to the theme. If you come back, I'd love to hear more of what you think :-)

the clarity of the water is wonderful! great idea, and unique! The only change I would make is to crop a bit of the top out of this shot. That colour and texture change, takes from the rest of this very clear shot.

Wow! High marks, there is so much to see in this photograph.

@Ana:
Thanks for your thoughts on how you think I could improve this image! I don't know how much you'd crop from the top, but just for discussion's sake I feel like the lillies at the top and the large rock at the bottom frame the intervening lake bed/mountain reflection in a way that my eye likes. But then again it's my shot and I try to work on that objective eye. I appreciate your feedback always :-)
@diwwalker:
Thank you!

Not the lilies!! just above them, there is a line of something... it might be more lilies that are further away, but they make a distinct line above the floating flowers. It's a small tiny bit at the top.
Not a big deal...totally minor, but one thing that stood out to me.

This is clever, and well composed.

This doesn't clearly hit the theme for me. I get that we are looking through the water at the bottom, but you have a bit of reflection going on for me. And the more important question is what are we looking through at? My eye is drawn either to the rock at the bottom or to the flowers at the top (because they are brighter).

@Ana:
I see what you mean. As I recall, when quietly canoeing across this lake later in the morning, there were millions of fuzzy white seed pods floating in the air (as the wind picked up a bit) and settled on the water. I'm not sure, but perhaps that's what those white speckles are in the distance. Or maybe it's a reflection in the water. At any rate, thanks much for the follow-up comment!

@shashin:
My idea on relevance here was of a suggestive nature rather than a very obvious one. To me, what you're looking through (the water) is identified only by the reflections and floating lillies. You can't really see the water. The water clarity affords a fairly unobstructive view to the bottom. I agree that the rock in the foreground is the main foundation, but my eye then moves on to the lillies and then settles on the lake bed and the reflections. Thanks for the comment.

wish the lighting was more consistent through the whole image. i guess it's a little more difficult with the range you were working with. good try.
George said 463 days ago:
Well that's a surprise! Thanks to All for the comments and suggestions :-)

Yo, jungle man, congrats on the feature!
After looking at the image quite a bit I don't think I would change a thing. But I do have to ask, are those the tops of the trees reflected in the water in amongst the lily pads?
George said 463 days ago:
Thanks Tracy :-)
Yes, those are mountain pines reflected in the water. I'm glad you noticed that! It's one of those things I didn't notice when making the image, and only discovered it after I saw it on screen.

George,
You are such a busy man--how do you have time to post featured images? I like the preying mantis in the upper left on one of the floating lillies.
Congratulations.

Hey George,
Nice job, you pulled off what I couldn't!
mtmartini said 461 days ago:
S**t, I didn't see that little guy King, you have really good eyes. <g>
George said 461 days ago:
@XXIVXXV:
I so agree. I wish I'd walked upon this scene a bit earlier in the A.M. The light might have been more forgiving.

@King:
You're far too kind. Stop it. And thanks for the chuckle :-)
This was a perfect July morning in British Columbia, at the Little Slocan Lake, an oasis in a land of ridiculously lush beauty. Damn those Canadians. I wanna be Canadian.
