I think I would have chosen the greater depth of field. That far out of focus, the space needle seems distracting rather than relevant.

there are a few things that would add to this image. aligning the flower so it wasn't overlapping the space needle. since it's in view, illuminating the subject quite a bit more. i would have liked to see the tower more in focus as well.

Well, it doesn't really work for me :( That the focus is on the flower in the foreground means the picture is much more about the flower - which is not "up" - than the tower - which is.
But everything else - quality, composition, the colours - are just great. and I appreciate that hidden "photographic pun" - flower/tower - you packed in this one :)

My eyes are drawn upward, so in that sense it does it's job, but it just doesn't flick my switch. Nice idea.

This image is surprising. I don't think I would have thought to frame such a delicate bloom with so notable a structure in the background. I feel like a garden elf. And I like it.

Moodeus was right. The camera was at ground level pointing up at the flowers.
