Slow enough shutter speed to get blurred wings, steady enough hand to get a stable image, grass in the foreground to give depth. Not that they would come around for a second photo pass but it would be great to have the lead goose in focus.
I have similar problems with my 300mm and am working to maximize my DOF while maintaining a decent shutter speed.
