I'm all over the place with this one, like the idea and find it relevant but the sky puts me off.

Interesting shot. What happened to cause the crack on the statue? I would like a little more lead room on the left, but other than that I like this as you have it here.

I think a bit of careful pp could get rid of that unsightly crack around the base of the face (I don't really see that it adds anything to the shot). It's a great idea for a subject though.

The crack is a seam not yet fused - it is a work in progress. a local sculptor/painter (David Adickes) here in houston is doing a series of 20' presidents heads. i cropped tight to the left due to a security fence.

hey andrew! thanks for taking the time with my shot and commenting.
the crack works for me - for a number of reasons. it is unfinished (but the viewer wouldn't know that)
it is a giant homage to a president -whom in real life was flawed.
last - i think it would be rather stale as a "perfect" picture.
