A new take on the "bird's eye view"...very nice.

Interesting post processing on this. Excellent subject.

Dave_Mac said 573 days ago:

Good theme relevance. I find the post processing colours a little harsh/acidic. Nice shot though.

Love the color, good shot

Aaaaaahhhhh! Sorry, lost my head for a second there. You see, a large pine tree just like this one ended up in my garage during Hurricane Ivan and I'm still a little traumatized.

This is a great look up perspective. However, the bird house and the heavy processing cause my eye to stall near the bottom of the image.

I Love the tones in this, wish the top of the tree wasn't chopped off!

SeekingFocus said 573 days ago:

I'd like some info about how this one was taken. Photo-shopped? I hope not. Either way, It's hard to rate technique sometimes without knowing some technical info on a shot like this.

JIMJIM said 572 days ago:

Really a cool pics and I like the color postprocessing too ;-)

King said 572 days ago:

A for Art. The processing may turn some WS folks off, but I like it and think keeps this out of the ordinary bin.

SeekingFocus said 570 days ago:

I didn't mean that I didn't like it. Overall, I love the effect. I only meant I would appreciate it more had it been on film (just personal preference).

However, nine times out of ten when presented with an image (in a museum, book, or on WS) we are given no clues as to processes, context, photographer, or title. So, we are left to judge completely blind (so to speak), using only our eyes to gauge immediate aesthetic and emotional impact. (This one gets high marks in both those categories.) Essentially, weather it was digitally processed, or done in a darkroom, the end result is the same, and the final work stands independent of these factors.

@SekingFocus...how narcissitic to think I was referring to your remarks. :>)
Remember that I couldn't read any previously posted remarks until after I posted mine.

However, I agree with your defensive remarks.

...and I'm just pulling your leg, Jason!

SeekingFocus said 570 days ago:

Heh, I didn't think you were referring to me, just wanted to cover my ass.

Big thanks to SeekingFocus and King - interesting remarks about this shot. - and i have to confess that a bit of photoshopping was involved to get the effect...
