Thanks, George. I knew you would understand. I'm bombing out on this theme, as far as high ratings go...don't know about this one yet. I guess beginning with a black transvestite ballerina wasn't the suavest decision.
I elected not to go the high-relevance route, which is the shortest path to getting featured, as you know (e.g., your featured swing shot in this theme--kudos for that).
That said, this has been a very enjoyable theme, with some great photographs...and they just keep coming.

True, King. Clearly you're not too worried about the feature thing, aside the fact many of your *super* images have seen home page real estate.
The tranny in a tutu is just to die for. Absolutely terrific. I'm really enjoying participating with you in this space called weeklyshot. I appreciate all your prodding and pulling and joking.
Well...if I don't see you in the future, I'll see you in the pasture. Er, what I meant was, *happy new year* :-)

Great atmosphere through use of colour. Glad to see light at the end of the platform. Very nice shot.

Hi King,
I too enjoyed your ballerina image, although maybe your timing was a little off there. People tend to be a bit "strict" with the first images that are posted in a new theme.
This one's a cracker too, the whole geometry of the shot is wonderful leading your eyes to the couple on the platform (who also help by being in some sort of animated pose). I wondered...is the glare natural or have you ppeed this a little for effect?
Happy New Year

If only I were as eloquent as George! I never thought it wasn't relevant and I'm glad to see that most people agree. I should have known it was you - it's your colour :-)
King said 616 days ago:
@psychodudu,
It's just plain old lens flare that I chose to leave in the shot for atmosphere. This is the Retiro train station in Buenos Aires, around 2004.
I posted my pseudo-ballerina photo as soon as I could after pursang posted his...for effect, you see.
Thanks for the comments and compliments.

@groen65...Hi, Nynke. George does have a way with words, doesn't he.
Thanks for the favorable critique.
@George...I'd be happy to meet you in the pasture if you'll bring the wine (and the glasses).
Happy New Year to you, too.

I love this! the people make a fantastic shot even more fantastic.

Converging lines, a defined focal point with so much visual interest in this image. Yes, the bright spot and the folks in the light make the focal point below 'looking up,' but what I find so genius about the image, is my eyes Look Up as part of my scanning of the image. In a way, it makes me feel as if I'm in the train station. Well done King.

King, do I have to do everything around here?
Anyway, I know just the wine for *you*. A 2004 Shiraz. You'll love it. Right up your alley.

King,
This one is absolutely fantastic!
Haven't been able to keep up with WS this week too well and I just noticed this image. Really great work. I love it.
...One day I'll have lens that can do that. What did you use here, by the way?
King said 615 days ago:
@SeekingFocus
Your eye is being fooled. This was shot with my $10 garage sale Minolta X700 with a very nice, used, Minolta 28mm lens. It's looks like a wider-angle view, I know. I'm particularly pleased that this shot is Featured given Vernon's 10mm shot, with which this shot has some things in common (not much, but some).
Thanks for the compliments!
SeekingFocus said 615 days ago:
Wow, I would not have guessed it was a 28mm. Even better.
SSH said 611 days ago:
Just wondering how this got featured. Not my taste for sure
King said 611 days ago:
Don't blame me...I didn't vote for it.
Relevance: 3.38

Composition: 4.08

You are confusing me, Shazeen. First you insult me, then you compliment me. I don't mind one or the other, but consistency would help.
SSH said 611 days ago:
I wouldnt insult you or anyone King. I thought you like hearing true opinions from others?
By the way. I Love your work even if i dont like this one.
King said 611 days ago:
Shazeen,
Here's why I'm confused. You could simply read the comments of others to find out why this was featured, so you didn't need to preface your opinion, "Not my taste for sure," with a question as to why it was featured.
I have no problem with opinions and I've expressed even to those I most admire, that I like some of their images less than others.
You've used terms like "crap" and "bullshit" regarding comments others have made regarding your images. Those are not polite terms here on WS, so, even if you do not intend it as such, such remarks seem to carry an insult.
I've asked you before if English is your second language and you haven't responded. Are we having a language/cultural misunderstanding here? I just want to know.

Lovely. Takes me right in. It's not that unusual a shot, but it's very solid and quite purposeful to me. As I see it, the roof (presumably the "look up" part) serves to frame/guide your eyes to the subject of this image, which are the two figures on the platform. This shot is all about them. That's where your eye goes to right away...partly because it's the brightest area of the image. Nonetheless, terrific. I really like it.
