woa great shot, respect!

Well I think she's pointing up, so for me its average relevance. BUt otherwise I think it is a stunning image with 5's across the rest of the board.

I love the movement, the moment, the color treatment, the instance of time and emotion wrapped into one lovely visual sentiment. For me it speaks loudly and that is what a photographer's POV should do. Lovely. Just lovely. Thank you for sharing :)

One more thing, now that I've stumbled onto your website and user page. You rock. I love your images. Beautiful stuff. WOW.

Nick said 554 days ago:

Not really looking up.

kadenajack said 554 days ago:

This just doesn't do it for me. The only relevance is the girl's blurry hand pointing kind of up. She's cropped out on both top and bottom so I know nothing about her other than she's wearing a very lively print and being held by a man with hairy arms and an analog watch.

You took the time to monochrome and vignette this image, so clearly you saw something here that I did not. I'm interested to read the other comments and see if anyone else isn't thrilled or if I'm the lone wolf.

kadenajack said 554 days ago:

Clearly I'm the minority. Perhaps this is why my stuff is not rating very high.

This is one of those images that seems to tell part of a story. I like the emotional and dramatic complexity of this shot. I hope you don't get slaughtered on cropping and technical points. High marks from me.

I'd like to echo the sentiments offered by moodeous, above. You Rock!

oh i like this. very nice feel to it. i wish there was just a bit more of their faces/heads visible. couldja redo this shot, please? hey, i'm totally kidding. this is lovely...and the tones fit so well.

Thanks for all your energy around this shot. Much appreciated!

moodeous: My pleasure! Photography for me is all about sharing and thanks for popping-by my site. Cheers!

King: As always, merci!

Overall, a few things jump to mind... I'm always pleased to hear when people like a certain photo treatment. So nice. On the other hand, I'm also curious about subjectivity and linearness in thinking when it comes to themes. I feel this shot is all about "Looking Up", first from the POV of the camera (suggesting a bug or animal's point-of-view) or again from the little gal lookin'up. Either way, it's totally interesting how we as humans interpret... (little personal reflection).

I also appreciate the comment around composition. Interstingly, this shot was out of my "normal" kinda framing. I would have usually taken the shot with more faces and more of the little girl in the frame. Instead, I just shot the camera off of the ground and this is what I got. I let go of the "control" of composition. Just to share a bit of process with you....

As always, cheers!

i'm not sure if it's the right one for this theme but i like it. the color fit's really well!

Daniel, interesting to hear how you took this. I often do the same as it's often either not comfortable to crunch down to bug-eye level or I simply don't want to take focus away from what's going on by bringing the camera up to my eye and composing, etc. Shooting from the hip can be so rewarding. This is a particularly good example. Well done.
