It's not clear to me how this shot is different through a long exposure. Couldn't you have taken the same shot with a regular exposure setting?

This is a 10s exposure : the wall was yellow and very dim light, no photoshopping (B&W in camera) the long exposure made the wall white leaving the shoes black.

I can now read your comment. Either way, white backgorund or no, not the right medium and as commented, you could have done this a different way and we would be none the wiser. The approach should be used so that the viewer appreciates it. This is really just an exercise, interesting though it may be to you that doesn't encapasulate the theme. It's a bit like having a car but using a bike to get to the same destination. If you follow. I am cynical as to what you say the backdrop and outcome was too.

Mooch, Im not a pro, or barely an experienced amateur, I do not have white backgrounds so I used this method instead.It was evening so there was hardly any light too, and ptting the lights on wouldnt give me the white,
Also I try to avoid photoshop as much as possible for my experiments :D

I really like this photo, here and on your blog. Although you used a long exposure to take it, I don't know if it really shows off what you can get from one.

I'm sure this was a long exposure, but the photo doesn't really demonstrate it very well. Regardless, I really do like this photo.

Well I guess that's an interesting technique, but there is no way to tell this was done using a long exposure unless you read the text describing the process. My opinion is that if you have to read a detailed explanation about why something is relevant...then it isn't relevant ;)

On the other hand, now that I've read the technique, it sound interesting so I'm probably going to try it out.
