Is the grainy quality on purpose?

I like the simple street scene. The gritty feeling is reflected in the gritty piles of snow.

I like this because it's different and the processing, in my opinion, is very cool. I like the etched/pen & ink look and I think it fits this scene well. The contrast is nice, not too dark...so yu can still pick out the details on those old buildings. The composition is nice too...the cars, lamp posts and buildings are nicely placed within the frame. High marks.

This has a nice, gritty, inner city quality to it. This shot is not really my cup of tea, but it works well for this category.
