I definitely have an appreciation for this photo, since I was also at that event (not with Miles)...was a really great day and everyone was so kind and happy. Definitely joyful. Nice one, Miles.

Very sharp shot with nice range of colors. FYI, people with turbans are called Sardars and they reside in Northern India i.e Punjab

Ashish, there are turban wearing Rajputs too, as well as small groups in other areas of the world, North Africa and the Middle East for example.

I've spent more than a year in India, including the Punjab, and only ever heard the term sardar used to describe someone important, and that was in the Punjab. I assumed it was a term of respect, but maybe that's not true. Is it a common name for turban wearer?
