It's a pretty noble message, in an 8th-Grade "Stay-in-School-and-Do-Drugs" kinda way, and the colors are joyous, but it doesn't really say "Joy" to me. Composition is appropriate, and the exposure is correct.

This images is stating the obvious. :)
The harsh lighting flatens the image a lot. I bet if you came back later that afternoon, the textures of the paint strokes would really pop.
