This isn't Joy. It's her friend, Peg.

LOL :-)

I think this is well composed and I love the burst of color in the translucent clothesline clip. I also love the streaked sky in the background, rather than seeing clear blue.

This doesn't quite give me the feeling of joy though, compared to some of the other photos that are really, really joyful. But it's not like there's no joy here. I think the sunshine and bright color add a lot here. I think it's just that there's only so much you can convey with a clothesline pin!

Great photo. Love the sky and the colour contrast. I have no idea what it has to do with joy, though!
Maybe those cool pink socks were here??!!!

This is an instantly recognizable image, and I liked it the first time I saw it on your photoblog. I gave it high marks on everything except relevance. I guess one might come up with some sort of analysis of why this fits the "joy" theme (the joy of a beautiful day maybe?) but I am just one of those guys with the opinion that if you have to spend alot of time thinking about how something relates to a theme, then it isn't as relevant as the images where it's obvious. I'm sure there have been plenty of arguments about that. In any case, I really enjoy the image itself :)

I like the idea of the shot on it's own, but other than the colours, am not sure about the joy here.

Zorilla - thanks for the laugh!

I don't get this one.

Amongst all the photographs I've taken over the last year or so this is consistantly the favourite amongst my friends, the common reaction being one of happiness and a smile when seeing it.

I really don't know why it makes people smile, I like it too but can't explain it, some people just love it and it makes them happy. Maybe I just have wierd friends :-)

I chose it for the above reason, I suppose I read something differant in the theme explanation, as well as when I saw the pink socks image, which is fantastic, I thought they would work off each other quite well, what a fantastic diptych that would make on a wall.

Cheers :-)

Beautiful detail in the sky. I can see a hint of a rainbow.

Since I have not read the comments, I can predict that many will suggest this does not fit the category of "Joy". However, I would disagree. The vividness of the colors, the sunlight that passes through the translucent red plastic of the clothes pin, and the light, thin clouds all harken me back to a big, open ended summer day when I was a kid. The freedom, the options.... so for me, the image EVOKED joy in me.

Makes me think of doing my laundry - no joy there :(

splendor-solis said 846 days ago:

I think the composition is ok, but I don't understand the relevance to Joy.

splendor-solis said 846 days ago:

Damn not being able to edit comments ;)

I can certainly see what you're saying in regards to how you read into the theme and can appreciate that..

Kjetil said 844 days ago:

A different perspective on the joy theme. Not what most make me think about joy, but still, the relevance is there.

the joy of getting the laundry in before it rains!
